dear universe,it would be really great if you could guide me in my quest for the perfect, plain black flats. i have been on the hunt for more than two years [two years! my feet, they are weary.] this whole seeing a pair [or pairs] online, buying them, trying them, hating them, sending them back process has gotten old. free shipping is great; repeated trips to the post office are not. sending some guidance, suggestions, direction would be most appreciated. by perfect, i mean comfortable and relatively inexpensive [so close michael kors and kenneth cole...twice.] by plain, i mean no adornments whatsoever [good effort, just about every pair i've seen recently.]by black, i mean leather, matte not patent. by flats, i mean little to no heel [nice try, born.]and by universe, i mean anyone reading this post.
happy new year from my lego doppleganger. a fairly spot-on likeness, given the massive cup of coffee at her disposal. [thanks to my niece for including lego me in her recent building adventures.] also, going with today's theme, found this in my morning reading.
pretty fantastic.

today is a ruffled-tank-under-a-ruffled-cardigan kind of day.
[special thanks to my big fat thumb for making its way into the picture.]
as much as i loved frank bruni's restaurant reviews in the times, i'm really enjoying sam sifton's poetic writing style:
A pitcher of sangria slakes thirsts developed on the walk down Mulberry Street in the dank humidity of an early summer evening.

if that doesn't make you want to frequent that restaurant then i think you should have your taste buds checked.
a short dialogue regarding the sad death of golden gal rue mcclanahan

this is a post about nothing except the fact that my family and i had a conversation about libraries on sunday [hooray for olivia's first library card! watching and listening to kids as they learn to read is magical.] in which it was revealed that my sister does not like them; they are, as she so hilariously put it, "like nursing homes for books."quite awesome, really, when you think about it.also: today's shoes are an old favorite. and wow, am i pale.summer cannot arrive soon enough.
io has just told the group of mortals that she knows the way to hades/medusa.bethany: so, there's just a path to hades?me: i bet it's paved with good intentions.the end
